My Go-To Picture Perfect Makeup Products

Updated: Aug 31, 2023

After being a makeup artist since 2015, and a makeup lover since I was 5 years old, I've found a lineup of products to have my makeup look its best in pictures. I tested my routine when I went to take my graduation pictures, and not to toot my own horn, but my face looked AMAZING!

You can find more of my makeup looks on my makeup artist Instagram here.

Before we start, I have oily-combination skin, but I will recommend alternative products for drier skin. Also, the majority of these products are on the higher-end side, but if you'd like me to recommend affordable, drugstore makeup products, I have a whooole bunch that I love!

Face

The first step of any makeup routine is to hydrate your skin! This product is a double win for me since it also has SPF, so it's great to protect your skin!

This primer is great for all skin types, but it really targets large pores and oiliness. The balm texture swipes on really smooth and blurs any imperfections. I like to apply it mostly to my t-zone, then spread whatever is leftover on the rest of my face.

To my fellow oily-skinned guys & gals, do not be afraid of the word luminous! This ABH foundation leaves such a beautiful natural finish to the skin and gives you that healthy glow that everyone looks for. I usually bring foundation powder to touch up my T-zone if I need to! Bonus - it comes in 50 shades!

I'm pretty sure everyone has heard of this concealer, it's been a cult favourite for years! This product is full coverage and will make your under eyes glow, making you look more awake and youthful. I also use it as my eye primer and don't set it before starting my eyeshadow! I know this formula can be drying for some, so I would also recommend the Too Faced Born This Way concealer,

To set my concealer in place, I love pressing in this loose powder to make my undereye and other areas smooth and to ensure nothing on my face moves, especially when my oils start spilling through! I also like to sweep the leftover powder on the rest of my face to set my foundation!

This cream contour is soooo easy to blend out, even if you add too much, it blends like a dream! You can chisel your features and make such a natural-looking shadow!

Let's be real, Rihanna never disappoints, and her bronzers are the perfect product to add a summer glow to your skin. The formula is super smooth and brushes on beautifully.

I'm a sucker for blush, and Patrick Ta's formulas are beautiful and so easy to work with. This blush is buildable and adds such a nice radiance to your face, again, adding a beautiful glow to your skin!

Eyes

I know a lot of people have strayed away from the brow pomades lately, opting for pencil brow products, or soap brows, but I still love my pomade! I use a light hand and a super thin bruh to imitate brow hairs - I honestly just love how long the product lasts me for how much I pay for it!

This liner is long-lasting & matte - enough said! I love using a gel liner as it gives me more control to work with.

What I love about Kiss lashes is that they are super affordable and have a faux mink line that looks so natural and whispy!

Eyeshadow Palettes

Honestly, I have so many eyeshadow palettes that I love that this can be a whole separate post. Let me know in the comments if you'd like that!

Lips

Lip products are similar to eyeshadow palettes - there are so many that I love and always interchange between, but I'd like to highlight the following three:

Long-lasting, smooth application, and beautiful colour selections - MAC has been in the makeup game for so long, so you know they do it right! One of my favourites for a nude lip on fair skin is the shade Subculture.

If you don't buy Maybelline lipsticks, you are seriously missing out! Their lipstick glides on so smoothly, has many different formulas and shades, and is super affordable. My favourite nude shades are Nude Lust, Bare All, and Peach Buff.

These glosses give you SHINE! They come in regular shine glosses or sparkly glosses. If you don't like the minty/strong feeling of lip plumpers, then you definitely won't like this, but I suggest the Maybelline Lifter Glosses.

This setting spray will lock EVERYTHING in place - I swear, nothing will move! I have heard that for some people it can be drying, so I suggest the Morphe Continuous Setting Mist for drier skin tones.
